Dear Readers,
I hope this note finds you well and that, depending on where you are in the world, the recent time zone switcheroo didn’t turn you into some sort of feral beast or something. Losing an hour of sleep certainly isn’t my favorite pastime and I kinda wish they’d just do away with the whole thing and stick to one time all year round, but I won’t presume that everyone is like me. Maybe you love losing sleep! The world is full of all sorts of people, after all.
I’m happy to report that work has begun on the script for issue 3 of The Blood of Seven Queens and that I’ve taken lessons learned from the scripting and prep of issues 1 and 2 and applied them already.
For instance, on issues 1 and 2, Artist Chris found myself spending an awful lot of time trying to build out sets that were perfect matches for what Writer Chris put down on paper. This sucked, especially because if Artist Chris had slowed down for long enough, he would’ve realized that Writer Chris isn’t nearly as particular about a faithful adaptation of his scripts as Artist Chris thinks he is.
Therefore, for issue 3, I approached the script differently. Writer Chris began with a loose outline that defined which sets it would be cool to have on hand. Then Artist Chris did his best and asked Writer Chris to take a look at the trouble spots. Writer Chris revised, made Artist Chris’ life easier, and all was well.
Unless you count me talking about my selves in the third person as a problem.
That’s all for now. See you in two weeks.
Yours,
Chris
