Dear Readers,
It’s snowing outside as I type this, my youngest daughter and I are still feeling the effects of our COVID and flu vaccinations from Saturday afternoon, and I’m fighting over the very strong urge to take a nap. I’ve got a Star Wars blanket draped over my lap, I’ve still got my pajamas on, and it would be oh-so-easy to just lean back in this recliner and close my eyes for a few minutes.
But I got shit to do, including typing the rest of this message to all of y’all. So, without further ado, let’s get to some updates.
ART
I’ve done a fair amount of experimenting with different techniques I might use for the comic book, but that’s still very much an ongoing process. In the realm of things finished, though, I’m happy to report that I just wrapped up eight new portraits for the villains of the comic’s backstory. Here are a couple of examples:
WORLDBUILDING
After spending all of December on worldbuilding, I’ve definitely eased up on the throttle here. What I have done is take a look at all of the ideas I’ve jotted down over the years and determined which ones I want to develop, and which I don’t.
I’ve also made some small tweaks to pre-existing lore for the comic in order to accommodate the writing I’ve been doing. And speaking of writing…
WRITING
I finished a near-final draft of the script for issue 1 of The Blood of Seven Queens, which I’ll include for paid subscribers below. And after that and some very interesting character developments that I hadn’t been expecting, I revised the plot outline for the whole series. That necessitated some of the lore tweaks I mentioned above in “Worldbuilding,” but I was glad to make them. Everything really feels like it’s coming together.
And that’s that for this time. Paid subscribers can keep on scrolling for their exclusive, and I’ll see the rest of you back here in about two weeks.
Yours,
Chris
