Dear Readers,
The highlight of the week was coming up with a cover for issue #2 of The Blood of Seven Queens, a detail of which I’ve included above as a thank you to you for sticking with me through thick and thin. I hope you enjoy it and let me know how you think this showdown between Frieda and the Witches of Oz might play out.
I say that the cover was the highlight of the week because I spent the rest of the week either working, staying up too late to watch political speeches, or fighting with myself as I tried to craft the set where my characters will be hanging out for the rest of issue 2.
The set in question is a small village overlooking a river and a bridge between two countries. It should have been a relatively easy assignment, and would have been for someone working more traditionally, but as you may remember I work in a 3D sculpting and rendering program to create my art. And while that definitely has its advantages, it is full of rabbit holes for me and my ADHD brain to fall into. It is way too easy for me to forget that I’m making a comic book and not a video game where you can walk around every corner of every set.
I think I’m finished it with it finally, but lately I’ve been making myself laugh by deciding that the whole ordeal is the result of my love of puns.
“How so?” I hear you asking.
Well, the name of the village in question is Yonder. It was so named so that I could call a famous battle in my world’s history “The Battle Over Yonder.” Get it?
Yeah, so I probably deserve to be punished for that one, but I’m glad I’ve finally done my penance.
Yours,
Chris
