Dear Readers,
A couple of days after I shipped issues of The Blood of Seven Queens #1 last week, a major computer glitch messed up lots of things around the world. It may even have affected you, and I am very sorry if it did.
Things weren’t too bad here, as I’m a Mac guy and the computer I have for my day job is also a Mac, but I am left wondering if the copies of BSQ #1 ever got to where they were supposed to go. I’ll probably check in personally with folks tomorrow or the next day, but feel free to reply to this message to let me know if you ordered a copy and have received it.
In other news, work continues on art for issue 2. I am really happy with how it’s coming together, even if it’s coming together slower than I’d like, and I look forward to sharing it with you, a few pages at a time, starting in August.
I’m also excited to share with you the worldbuilding I’ve been doing this week. There’s some really juicy stuff in here, most of which will eventually work its way into the comic in some form or other:
A bit about what it means to have the conch in halfling society
A constructed language (like you’d see in Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones, except not yet as well-developed) spoken by the halflings of a doomsday cult and now used to cast magic spells
The roles and responsibilities of a halfling chieftain/navigator
A copy of Los Angeles found along a copy of the Nile River
My take on the bandersnatch, a creature from the works of Lewis Carroll (the Alice in Wonderland guy)
A prophecy about the good guys returning at the end of the world to make sure it doesn’t end and stuff, cause that’d be lame
A chemical version of auto-tune derived from singing fish
A little thing on why sex workers are a vital part of the Edenian economy
The reasons why sex education is mandatory in Eden
My version of the rusalka monster from Slavic folkore
Looking back on the week’s work, that feels like quite a lot. I guess I should be proud or something.
At any rate, that’s all for now. The writing part of Summer Camp should be wrapped up for me by Saturday, which means I can spend the last few days on creating art for some of these pieces. I’ll share what I’ve got with you next Wednesday.
Yours,
Chris
I got mine! They are sitting on my bwledaide table waiting for Saturday morning. (IYKYK)
