Dear Readers,
I’m a week late with this update and I’m thinking I should probably move back to weekly updates at some point, if only to keep the rhythm going. What seems to happen with this fortnightly schedule is that I forget all about the task during the off-week, then I get all flustered when I remember it at the last minute on the day the newsletter is supposed to go out.
Can you relate? What’s a task that you struggle with that’s like that?
At any rate, before I get into this issue’s updates, I’m proud to announce that my work has made it to the finals for the Worldbuilding Awards. Thanks to all of you who voted last time, I’m now one of five finalists.
If you have a moment to spare, you can throw your vote behind me one more time by clicking on this here linkedy link and selecting “eccbooks” under the “Best World” category. Thanks!
And now, on with the updates:
ART
While I haven’t completely finished any pages for issue 1 yet, I’ve got roughs now for 20 out of 24 pages and hope to start putting together finished pages soon. I’m thinking I’ll keep those behind the paywall, as a perk for paid subscribers, but I’m not sure yet. I’ll still share little bits of art-in-progress here, free for everyone, no matter what.
Speaking of here are some sneak peeks:
None of those are finished images, but they give you a bit of flavor for what’s to come.
WRITING
Writing-wise, things are slower than I’d like, but looking for a new full-time job has eaten away at the time and energy I’d usually use for getting words on the page. That said, I have made some progress on issue 3’s script. That includes a cameo by a certain Robin Hood that came to me in a daydream the other day.
If you’ve seen the film Young Guns II and remember the framing device of “Brushy” Bill Roberts trying to convince an attorney in 1950 that he’s the supposedly long-dead Billy the Kid, then you’ll have an idea where I’m going with my little Robin Hood scene.
At any rate, that’s all for now. I’ll see you back next time.
Yours,
Chris
