Imagination Inspiration
in which our hero goes to Florida
Dear Readers
The photo above is of the reverse waterfall found near the Imagination! pavilion in Walt Disney World’s Epcot theme park. That pavilion has been my favorite since I was kid visiting for the first time in 1980s, and that water feature has loomed large in my mind ever since. In fact, it inspired the Unfalls—a location I hope to eventually depict in The Blood of Seven Queens.
During my family’s recent road trip to Florida, I’d hoped to do quite a bit more brainstorming than I ended up doing. We were in the car for a long, long time, after all, and I spent a fair amount of that time behind the wheel in quiet solitude while others slept. Alas, the creative parts of my brain needed a vacation just as much as the rest of me did. And so, not much happened.
Then I came home and the readjustment to day-to-day life was prolonged and awkward, which means that not much has happened since. I did finish the script for issue #7, which I hope to begin illustrating soon. I did make a little more progress on the art print which will be going out to the big spenders from my recent Kickstarter campaign. And I did buy a scale and label printer to make shipping for that campaign a bit easier. But I’ve fallen behind on this newsletter and a lot else.
In the coming days, I hope to better estimate how long each issue of the comic will take me so that I can set my expectations accordingly. I hope to finish setting up the set pieces for the next issue of the comic. And I hope to start writing the essay on “doing it wrong” that I was hoping I would be sharing with you today. I’ve actually been considering re-naming the newsletter to “Doing It Wrong” for a while now, but I want to write a little thing about why I’ve been inspired to do so and how the phrase that used to cut me like a knife has come to inspire me—at least under the right circumstances.
We’ll see how all that goes. Until then, until next time, thank you for your continued support.
Yours,
Chris

Glad to see you got a brain break! Looking forward to whatever you do next!
I’m glad you were able to give both sides of your brain a much needed break. Hope you had lots of ice cream, too. It always seems to taste better at Disney. 🍦
